What we need to start
Your travel dates or the window you are flexible within, the number of travellers and their ages, your departure city, and roughly how many nights you want in Makkah versus Madinah. That is enough for a first realistic plan.
Where the money goes
Hotel proximity to the Haram is the largest single variable, followed by season. Ramadan and school holidays are the peaks. Moving your dates by a week outside peak can change the cost more than downgrading the hotel would.
Travelling with elderly parents or young children
Walking distance becomes the deciding factor rather than a nice-to-have. Connecting rooms need securing early. Intercity transport between Makkah and Madinah is worth paying more for when mobility is limited — the cheapest option is rarely the right one here.

Can the fee change after I apply?
Official components and service charges can both change. We confirm the current applicable amount with you in writing before any payment is taken, and we tell you which part is the authority fee and which part is our service.
